Intel Core i7 12700F RX 9060 XT Gaming PC - G6 Storm X2
Description
G6 Storm X2: i7 12700F + RX 9060 XT, the AMD Path at 1080p
The G6 Storm X2 is the i7 12700F + AMD Radeon path on the Storm range: Intel’s 12-core Core i7-12700F (8 Performance cores + 4 Efficiency cores, 4.90 GHz Turbo, 25MB Smart Cache) paired with the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB for 1080p high-refresh gaming. The RX 9060 XT runs the RDNA 4 architecture with AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) upscaling, hardware ray tracing, and 8GB of GDDR6 on a 128-bit bus. Hand-built in Wolverhampton against the same workshop process Ginger6 has run since 2001, the G6 Storm X2 ships fully tested with a 3-year warranty and lifetime UK phone support.
Why the AMD path at this price band? Per-pound, the RX 9060 XT lands slightly ahead of the RTX 5060 in raster shader throughput, with FSR carrying the upscaling workload where DLSS would on the Nvidia path. For the 1080p buyer who values raw raster performance over Nvidia ray-tracing ecosystem features, the X2 is the right answer. Step up to the G6 Storm X4 with the 16GB version of the RX 9060 XT for 1440p with VRAM headroom, or cross to the G6 Storm X1 with the Nvidia RTX 5060 if DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation and Nvidia RT ecosystem are your lever. Call Kevin on 01902 714533 if you want to talk through the AMD vs Nvidia choice on the i7 12700F platform.
Inside the Vida Zephyr mid-tower with ARGB case fans, the i7-12700F runs under the Intel stock cooler sized for the 65W base power and the sustained gaming load this build is sold for. The Gigabyte H610M K V2 carries the LGA1700 socket with the H610M chipset, two DDR5 DIMM slots populated with 16GB DDR5 5200MHz (2x8GB) Dual Channel memory in dual-channel mode, an M.2 NVMe slot for the included 1TB Gen 4 SSD, 1GbE Realtek LAN, and Wi-Fi connectivity supplied by an included 300Mbps USB Wi-Fi adapter. Power comes from the 650w G6 80+ Bronze PSU, sized with sustained-load headroom above the 12700F plus RX 9060 XT combination. The G6 Storm X2 sits inside our £1200 gaming PC tier and the wider Intel gaming PC range, specifically the Intel Core i7 gaming PC range. Browse the full Ginger6 gaming PC catalogue, the RX 9060 XT gaming PC range, or the 1440p gaming PC range for context.
The G6 Storm X2 is suited to competitive shooters like Valorant, Warzone, and Battlefield 6, to open world and RPG games like GTA 5, and to simulation titles like Assetto Corsa Competizione and Microsoft Flight Simulator at 1080p, plus the wider Ginger6 catalogue for any title not named here.
What’s Inside the G6 Storm X2
Every component selected for 1080p high-refresh gaming on the i7 12700F platform with the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT. Dual-channel DDR5, NVMe Gen 4 storage, ARGB case fans on the Vida Zephyr, and the PSU sized with the headroom the RX 9060 XT actually needs under load.
The i7 12700F + RX 9060 XT AMD Path
Three reasons the G6 Storm X2 is the build that lands on this spec.
AMD Radeon Raster Per Pound
The RX 9060 XT lands slightly ahead of the RTX 5060 in raster shader throughput at a similar price band, with AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) carrying the upscaling workload. RDNA 4 brings second-generation hardware ray-tracing accelerators, closing the gap on the Nvidia path in titles where ray tracing is a setting rather than a baseline.
i7 12700F Feeds the GPU at 1080p
The 12700F is comfortably ahead of the RX 9060 XT at 1080p. The CPU never throttles the GPU, frame pacing stays clean, and 1% lows in competitive shooters stay well above the average refresh rate of a high-Hz 1080p panel. 12 cores (8P + 4E) means streaming, recording, and chat sit on the E-cores while the P-cores own the game.
Mature 12th-Gen Platform, Structurally Lower Price
The 12700F lands the i7 cache and thread count at a price the RX 9060 XT can justify. Mature silicon, settled BIOS, LGA1700 upgrade path. The 14th-gen 14700K tier on a Z790 board buys a small gaming uplift on a structurally more expensive platform. For the AMD-path 1080p buyer the i7 12700F is the right CPU.
What the G6 Storm X2 Plays
Four workloads the RX 9060 XT 8GB on the i7 12700F is sized for at 1080p.
Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth Wukong, Hogwarts Legacy, the latest open-world releases sit at 1080p Ultra with comfortable frame rates. FSR quality lifts demanding scenes higher. RDNA 4 hardware ray tracing engages on supported titles where the workload fits inside the 8GB VRAM envelope.
Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Apex Legends, Fortnite, Overwatch 2 run with frame rates well above any high-refresh 1080p panel. 1% lows stay clean because the 12700F carries the network thread, the voice stack, and the recording engine on the E-cores while the P-cores own the game.
GTA 5 with modded loadouts, Skyrim, Fallout 4 with mid-detail mods, Baldur’s Gate 3 at 1080p Ultra. The 12-core i7 carries scripted RPG load and modded GTA V scenes well; the RX 9060 XT holds 1080p Ultra in the heavily-modded open-world rotation. Heavier 4K texture mods may push past the 8GB ceiling, which is the X4 16GB territory.
Microsoft Flight Simulator and Assetto Corsa Competizione at 1080p with FSR quality engaged; OBS recording on the GPU, browser, chat, voice, recording, and the game thread can all run at the same time without the 12700F blinking. The 8 Performance cores own the game; the 4 Efficiency cores carry the background workload.

The AMD Path on the i7 12700F
The Storm X2 is the AMD Radeon entry to the Storm range on the same i7 12700F platform that sits across every Storm build. The Storm X1 below carries the Nvidia RTX 5060 for the DLSS 4 + Nvidia RT ecosystem buyer; the Storm X2, this build, carries the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB for the buyer who values raster-per-pound and is comfortable with FSR rather than DLSS as the upscaling stack. The Storm X4 above carries the 16GB version of the same RX 9060 XT for the 1440p buyer with VRAM headroom needs. Three GPU answers across the AMD and Nvidia paths, one CPU.
RDNA 4 is the AMD architectural step up that closes most of the historical AMD-vs-Nvidia ray-tracing gap. At 1080p the RX 9060 XT runs modern AAA with ray tracing engaged comfortably; in the heavily ray-traced rotation (Cyberpunk path tracing, Alan Wake 2) the Nvidia RTX 5060 still has the upper hand, but in the broader rotation the gap is small. FSR quality on the AMD path is competitive with DLSS quality on the Nvidia path in motion; FSR Frame Generation is the analogue to DLSS Multi Frame Generation. For the 1080p buyer choosing on raw raster throughput and price-per-frame, the X2 is the right build.
Every Storm X2 is hand-built in Wolverhampton. The i7 12700F is seated on the H610M K V2 with the Intel stock cooler and ARGB case fans on the Vida Zephyr; cable management routes the GPU cable behind the cable shroud away from the front intake to support better airflow inside the case and reduce dust build-up around components; BIOS settings, DDR5 5200MHz dual-channel mode, NVMe boot order, and on-board firmware updates are confirmed before the 24-hour stress test begins. The 650w PSU is sized for sustained gaming load on this combination. After delivery, Kevin is reachable directly: the 3-year warranty covers parts and labour, and lifetime UK phone support means the person who built the machine is the person who answers the phone if anything needs attention.

Who the G6 Storm X2 Is For
Four buyer profiles where the G6 Storm X2 is the right answer.
You play CS2, Valorant, Apex, Fortnite, Warzone on a high-refresh 1080p panel, and you prefer the AMD path over Nvidia for raster-per-pound and a different driver ecosystem. The RX 9060 XT on the i7 12700F is more GPU than the competitive rotation needs at 1080p; that headroom is exactly the point.
You play modern AAA at 1080p Ultra and you are comfortable with FSR quality as your upscaling stack. At 1080p Ultra the RX 9060 XT holds well above 60 fps in most titles, and FSR quality lifts demanding scenes higher. RDNA 4 hardware ray-tracing engages on supported titles where the workload fits inside 8GB VRAM.
You play Assetto Corsa Competizione, Microsoft Flight Simulator, iRacing, or other sim titles at 1080p. The i7 12700F is well-sized for the sim CPU workload; the RX 9060 XT carries the 1080p frame budget with FSR quality engaged. For triple-monitor sim setups or VR, the Storm X4 (16GB VRAM) or Storm X6 (RTX 5070) is the more appropriate step up.
The X2 and the X1 below share the i7 12700F, the Gigabyte H610M K V2 board, the 16GB DDR5 dual-channel kit, and the 1TB Gen 4 NVMe drive. The split is the GPU: RX 9060 XT 8GB on the X2 (AMD path with FSR), RTX 5060 8GB on the X1 (Nvidia path with DLSS 4). Both excellent 1080p builds; the choice is your upscaling and ray-tracing preference, not winner.
What Our Customers Say
Over 1,100 reviews on Trustpilot with a 93% five-star rating. The person who advises on your spec is the person who builds your G6 Storm X2 and answers the phone after delivery. Read the reviews on Trustpilot directly, nothing here is curated.
Fantastic build at a brilliant price. Kevin advised on the AMD vs Nvidia question on the phone, walked through the trade-offs without trying to upsell, and the PC arrived faster than I expected. Cabling is immaculate and the performance at 1080p is everything I hoped for.
Excellent value, excellent build quality, excellent service. Boots in seconds, runs all my games perfectly, stays cool and quiet under load. The 24-hour test paperwork in the box is a nice touch. Would order from Ginger6 again without hesitation.
Solid PC, properly hand-built, performs exactly as advertised. Kevin called the day before delivery to confirm the address. After-sales support is exactly what you want from a smaller UK specialist builder rather than one of the bigger chains.
Built by Hand in Wolverhampton
Every G6 Storm X2 goes through the same three-stage workshop process. The 24-hour stress test is the gate that holds dispatch.
Before assembly begins, the configuration is reviewed against your games, your monitor, and any creative work or streaming you run alongside. If you have spoken to Kevin, the build sheet reflects that conversation. Components are verified against current stock, the Intel stock cooler mounting hardware is confirmed for the LGA1700 socket on the Vida Zephyr, and the build is queued in the workshop schedule.
The G6 Storm X2 is assembled inside the Vida Zephyr. The Intel stock cooler is seated on the 12700F with cold-plate contact verified, and the ARGB case fans on the front and rear are configured for direct intake. The RX 9060 XT is seated with the anti-sag bracket. Cable management routes the high-current GPU cable behind the cable shroud, away from the front intake, supporting better airflow inside the case, reducing dust build-up around components, and making future maintenance simpler. BIOS settings, DDR5 5200MHz dual-channel mode, NVMe boot order, the on-board firmware update, AMD Radeon driver install, and the included 300Mbps USB Wi-Fi adapter driver are all confirmed before the 24-hour test begins. This is a pre-dispatch step, not part of the 24-hour test itself.
Every G6 Storm X2 runs sustained CPU plus GPU load for a full day before it ships. The test loop covers thermal behaviour under sustained boost, memory stability under DDR5 5200MHz dual-channel timing, NVMe storage performance under sustained read/write, and frame-pacing behaviour in modern AAA at 1080p Ultra. The 12700F is monitored for thermal headroom; the RX 9060 XT is held at sustained boost. Boost behaviour, fan curves, stock-cooler thermal performance, and storage performance are all logged before despatch. Your G6 Storm X2 ships free to mainland UK addresses, fully insured and tracked.
- Thermal behaviour under sustained load
- Processor and graphics stability during extended use
- Memory responsiveness and system stability
- Storage performance and consistency
- BIOS and firmware stability
- Frame pacing in modern AAA at 1080p Ultra

Questions About the G6 Storm X2
At a similar price band, the RX 9060 XT lands slightly ahead of the RTX 5060 in raster shader throughput; the RTX 5060 lands ahead in ray-traced workloads where the Nvidia RT cores and DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation pull weight. If your rotation is raster-led (competitive shooters, open-world AAA at 1080p Ultra without RT), the X2 is the right answer. If your rotation leans into ray-traced modern AAA (Cyberpunk path tracing, Alan Wake 2, the heavily-marketed RT showcase titles), the Storm X1 with the RTX 5060 is the right answer. Both share the i7 12700F.
Yes. The RX 9060 XT on the i7 12700F holds modern AAA at 1080p Ultra comfortably above 60 fps in most titles, and FSR quality lifts the demanding scenes higher. For competitive titles like CS2, Valorant, Apex, Warzone, frame rates sit well into the high hundreds at 1080p. The 8GB of GDDR6 is sized correctly for 1080p; for 1440p with VRAM headroom the Storm X4 with the 16GB version is the natural step up.
The X2 carries the RX 9060 XT 8GB; the X4 above carries the 16GB version of the same RX 9060 XT. Same Blackwell-class silicon, doubled GDDR6 pool. At 1080p the 8GB is more than enough; at 1440p the 16GB starts to matter as modern AAA pushes past 8GB VRAM on Ultra textures. The X2 is the 1080p AMD-path buy; the X4 step-up is the 1440p AMD-path buy with VRAM headroom for heavily-modded libraries.
The 12700F is the i7 most 1080p gaming buyers should be looking at. Three years on from launch, it is still a 12-core part with 20 threads, 4.90 GHz P-core Turbo, 25MB Smart Cache, and the P-core/E-core hybrid layout the 14th-gen i7 still uses. In modern gaming workloads the gap between the 12700F and the 14th-gen 14700K is smaller than the price gap suggests, and the F variant (no integrated graphics, locked multiplier) lands the build at a price the RX 9060 XT can justify. For buyers who specifically want the 14th-gen 14700KF on a Z790 platform, the Galactic range is the natural step across.
For modern AAA at 1080p, yes. 16GB DDR5 5200MHz arrives as a 2x8GB dual-channel kit (the canonical Ginger6 form, never a single stick) so the memory controller runs at full bandwidth from boot. The H610M K V2 board has two DDR5 DIMM slots supporting up to 64GB total; if your workload scales into video editing or heavier creator work, a like-for-like step up to 32GB (2x16GB) dual-channel is the obvious first move.
Two upgrade paths. Add a USB Wi-Fi adapter that includes Bluetooth at checkout, or step the motherboard up in the configurator to a B760M-class board with onboard Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. Either path keeps the rest of the build identical.
Yes. The LGA1700 socket supports current-generation Intel chips; the Gigabyte H610M K V2 has two DDR5 DIMM slots supporting up to 64GB, the M.2 slot for the boot drive, a SATA upgrade path for secondary storage, and the 650w G6 80+ Bronze PSU has the headroom for a one-tier GPU upgrade in future. A 2TB Gen 4 NVMe drive is the obvious first upgrade as your library grows. Call Kevin when you are ready to upgrade.

Good Service Review by Joe
Value Quality Price Customer Service I purchased an intel gaming tower with the new i7 10700k CPU and the Asus Z590 Motherboard and 16GB Kingston 3200MHz Memory along with an 800w PSU all of which was housed in an GameMax F15 gaming case, I first of all would like to point out that my purchase came sooner than expected and secondly that I found a fault ie my installed memory was only showing that I had 8GB memory installed even though I could see there was infact 16GB installed,Having looked in the bios settings it was confirmed there that only 8Gb Ram was running However having contacted Mr Kevin Wilson of Ginger6 and explaining the problem top him I was given permission to open the tower case to check that each stick of Ram was working correctly. This done I rebooted my new PC and found that in was now showing the full 16GB of Ram running in dual channel mode which I promptly passed on to Kevin Wilson who like me was pleased the problem was solved. I wpould like to take this oportunity to thank Mr Wilson for his help and understanding and his prompt help in resolving the issue, this is the first thing I have purchased from Ginger6 BUT IT WILL NOT BE MY LAST. Good aftersales service is hard to find these days especially with internet companies BUT HERE IS ONE YOU CAN RELY ON TO DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO HELP RESOLVE ANY PROBLEM THAT MIGHT OCCURE. VERY WELL DONE GINGER6, KEEP UP THE GOOD SERVICE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS AND THEY WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU. Merry ChRISTMAS TO YOU ALL AT GINGER6 (Posted on 21/12/2020)

Price Value Quality Customer Service I took your published testimonials cum grano salis. I was wrong. As you know, we had some problems. All were solved within 24 hrs. of raising them, either over the phone immediately, or by delivery following day. My particular thanks to your 'helpdesk lady'. Her 'phone was always answered (usually within 3-rings, longest 5) and she was always helpful. I mention also your carriers. All equipment arrived promptly and without dints to, mystery footmarks on, slashes through, etc., the external packaging. Further, it worked 'out of the box'. You quoted 2-5 days. Including problems, we completed withinin six. Well done! That we overran was my fault, not yours. Had I not adopted a piecemeal approach to my installation, we would have met your quote. Better yet, your prices are very competitive. I shall recommend you to all friends and acquaintances. It is not, "You may safely deal with this company." It is more, "You will be b****y daft if you do not." Edit and use the above as you wish. Please do not quote my e-address. Regards, Chas. (Posted on 29/12/2016)
