Why This Build

Built Specifically for Flagship Flight Sim Performance

The FSX6 is the machine for sim pilots who want to put performance headroom off the table entirely. Here’s what separates it from everything that costs less.

4K Ultra at Maximum Settings

The RTX 5090's 32GB VRAM and raw rasterisation performance makes 4K Ultra in MSFS 2024 genuinely playable, not just in ideal conditions, but in photogrammetry cities, complex approach procedures, and dense add-on environments where lesser GPUs slow to a crawl.

VR with Real Comfort

Most GPUs in VR flight sim spend time reprojecting. The RTX 5090 provides the frame rate headroom to keep reprojection rare, even in demanding areas. Whether you fly a Quest 3, Pimax Crystal, or Varjo Aero, this is the card that pushes each headset to its limits.

Triple Monitor & Wide-View Setups

The RTX 5090 supports up to four displays via three DisplayPort 2.1 and one HDMI 2.1 outputs. Running a triple 1440p or 4K wide-view arrangement for a home cockpit is something only top-end GPUs handle comfortably in MSFS 2024. This is one of them.

24-Core Multitasking

The i9-14900KF's 24-core design means flight sim, Simbrief, Navigraph, VATSIM voice, and streaming software can all run simultaneously without the simulator noticing. Efficiency cores handle background tasks while Performance cores focus entirely on the sim.

DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation

NVIDIA's DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation can push perceived frame rates in difficult areas from 40 fps to well over 100 fps at 4K with minimal quality loss. In MSFS 2024, this is transformative in photogrammetry cities and complex approaches.

No Bottlenecks Anywhere

The FSX6 is balanced at every level: CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage are all matched to each other. You will not hit a situation where your RTX 5090 waits on a slow CPU, or your i9 is held back by insufficient VRAM. Everything moves at the same high speed.

Component Detail

Why Each Component Was Chosen

Every part in the FSX6 was selected for serious flight simulation workloads. Here’s what each component does and why it matters for the sim pilot who wants the best.

Intel Core i9-14900KF: Processor

The i9-14900KF packs 8 Performance cores and 16 Efficiency cores for 24 cores and 32 threads total, boosting to 6.0 GHz with Intel Thermal Velocity Boost. Single-thread speed matters enormously in flight simulators, which rely on fast individual core performance for scenery tile management, AI traffic, and weather systems. See our broader Intel Core i9 gaming PC range for context. Unlocked for overclocking, and upgradeable to the Core Ultra 9 285KF for next-generation platform features including PCIe 5.0 and USB4.

NVIDIA RTX 5090 32GB: Graphics Card

The RTX 5090 is NVIDIA's flagship consumer GPU. 32GB of GDDR7 VRAM means no texture pop-in, no memory pressure from large ortho scenery packs, and total freedom to drive multiple displays simultaneously. DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation multiplies frame rates in demanding areas. For 4K Ultra with payware aircraft, premium airports, and real-time weather, this is the only consumer GPU with genuinely comfortable headroom. Upgradeable to the ASUS TUF RTX 5090 for enhanced cooling and factory overclock.

2 × 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD: Dual Storage

Dual NVMe drives are standard on this build rather than a single larger drive for good reason: separating the OS and simulator onto one drive while storing add-ons, liveries, and scenery on a second drive reduces loading conflicts and I/O contention. MSFS 2024 installations with full add-on libraries routinely exceed 200GB, and professional scenery packages add hundreds of gigabytes more. The board supports up to 4 M.2 NVMe drives, including Gen 5 options like the Kingston Fury Renegade G5 at 14,200 MB/s read speeds, configurable above.

32GB Kingston Fury DDR5 5200MHz: Memory

32GB is the correct baseline for serious MSFS 2024 use. The simulator regularly uses 24–28GB with a full add-on package in complex scenery, and DCS World in VR can approach similar figures. Kingston Fury DDR5 at 5200MHz arrives as a 2x16GB dual-channel memory kit, which gives the i9-14900KF the bandwidth the Z790 platform is designed for. Upgradeable to a 64GB (2x32GB) dual-channel kit at 6000MHz for users running extreme scenery configurations, VR, or who also use the machine for video editing and other memory-intensive workloads.

Gigabyte Z790 D AX: Motherboard

The Z790 D AX provides built-in Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.1, 2.5 GbE LAN, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C (20Gbps), and four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports on the rear panel. For flight sim users running a yoke, throttle, rudder pedals, TrackIR, and headset simultaneously, rear panel USB provision matters. Upgradeable to the Z790 Eagle AX or Aorus Elite for enhanced audio and connectivity, or to the Z890 platform for PCIe 5.0, USB4, and Wi-Fi 7 when selecting the Core Ultra 9 285KF.

360mm AIO Liquid Cooler: Processor Cooling

The i9-14900KF is a high-power processor that runs hot under sustained load, particularly in dense add-on environments where flight sim drives CPU and GPU hard for hours at a time. A 360mm AIO provides the thermal headroom to sustain full boost clocks throughout a long-haul flight without throttling. ARGB fans are included as standard. Multiple cooler options including the Corsair Nautilus 360 are available above for users preferring a branded unit.

1000W 80+ Gold PSU: Power Supply

The RTX 5090 and i9-14900KF together draw significant power under sustained flight sim load. The Corsair RM1000 Gold provides the correct headroom for this combination with a safe margin. Its fully modular design allows clean cable routing and improved airflow. Upgradeable to the Corsair RM1200 or HX1500 Platinum if you plan to overclock both CPU and GPU simultaneously, or if you add a particularly power-hungry upgrade in future.

Connectivity: Ports & Networking

The Z790 D AX rear panel provides 1× USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C, 1× USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, 4× USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 4× USB 2.0, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, and 2.5 GbE LAN. The RTX 5090 provides 1× HDMI 2.1 and 3× DisplayPort 2.1 outputs, supporting up to four displays at 4K simultaneously. For users running more than four USB peripherals, a 4-port USB 3.0 expansion card is available via the PCI-E Slot 2 option above. An audiophile soundcard option is also available for high-end headset setups.

10 out of 10 for Ginger6. I needed to upgrade my PC to handle the 4K ultra graphics in my MS flight sim. After a chat with Kevin and a few suggestions from him, I agreed on a very competitive price and a week later my new computer was ready for collection. I’ve had my computer from Ginger6 for just over a year now and it has coped with everything I could throw at it with ease. Great product, great price, great company.

Complete Your Setup

Peripherals That Match This Machine

The FSX6 drives any peripheral combination you can throw at it. Here’s what Ginger6 customers typically pair with a machine at this level, and what to think about when choosing.

Monitor & Display Setup

The RTX 5090 supports up to four displays. A single 4K 144Hz monitor is the most popular pairing at this spec level. For wide-view immersion, a triple 1440p arrangement or a single ultrawide works well. Call Kevin if you want a recommendation for your specific simulator and desk setup.

Yoke, HOTAS & Throttle

The FSX6 handles any USB controller combination without USB bandwidth issues. Popular choices at this level include the Honeycomb Alpha/Bravo, Thrustmaster TCA Airbus, and Virpil MongoosT-50 for combat sim. The PCI-E Slot 2 USB expansion card above is recommended for cockpit setups with four or more input devices.

VR Headset

The RTX 5090 is the first consumer GPU that handles MSFS 2024 in VR at high settings without significant compromise. Compatible with Meta Quest 3, Pimax Crystal Light, HP Reverb G2, and Varjo Aero via either USB or DisplayPort. Call Kevin to discuss the best headset for your use case and budget.

Headset & Audio

For flight sim, a good headset transforms ATC communication and ambient immersion. USB headsets work out-of-the-box. For audiophile-level audio, an ASUS STRIX SOAR soundcard is available via the PCI-E Slot 2 option above, and pairs well with open-back headphones for long-haul realism.

Rudder Pedals

Rudder pedals are the single most impactful peripheral upgrade for realism in any fixed-wing aircraft. Popular choices include the Thrustmaster TFRP, CH Products Pro Pedals, and the MFG Crosswind for those wanting precision. All connect via USB and are fully supported.

Head Tracking

Head tracking via TrackIR or Tobii Eye Tracker 5 adds a further dimension of immersion without the cost and setup of full VR. Both are plug-and-play with MSFS 2024, X-Plane 12, and DCS World and are a popular first peripheral upgrade for sim pilots not yet ready to commit to VR.

FAQ

Questions About the G6 Sonic FSX6

At 4K with Ultra settings, the RTX 5090 and i9-14900KF can maintain 60–90 fps in demanding scenery without DLSS, and well above 100 fps with DLSS 4 Quality enabled. In the most demanding photogrammetry cities with payware airports and live traffic, figures will be lower, but this is the only consumer GPU that handles those scenarios without significant compromise. Call Kevin with your specific setup and he can give a more precise expectation for your configuration.
The FSX3 uses the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 5070, an excellent sim machine that performs particularly well in single-threaded scenery streaming due to 3D V-Cache. The FSX6 uses the i9-14900KF and RTX 5090. The FSX6 is the right choice if you want 4K Ultra performance, VR with real headroom, triple-monitor setups, or a machine that won’t need a GPU upgrade when the next generation of simulators arrives. If you are unsure which fits your setup and budget better, call Kevin and he will give you a straight answer.
Yes. For a home cockpit with multiple displays, the FSX6 is an excellent choice. The RTX 5090’s four outputs (1× HDMI 2.1, 3× DisplayPort 2.1) support three external displays plus one additional screen. The 24-core i9 handles background processing for cockpit software, SimConnect applications, and external hardware panels. For cockpits with many USB input devices, we recommend adding the 4-port USB 3.0 expansion card via the PCI-E Slot 2 option above. Call Kevin to discuss your specific cockpit setup.
A fully equipped MSFS 2024 installation with the base sim, payware airports, payware aircraft, and a scenery pack typically uses 200–300GB. Add Orbx regional packs and several additional aircraft and you can approach 500GB–1TB for MSFS alone. If you also run X-Plane 12 with ortho scenery, DCS World with multiple modules, and Prepar3D, storage requirements can exceed 2–4TB. We recommend at least one 2TB Gen 4 NVMe for your simulator installation and the second drive for the OS. All storage upgrade options are configurable above.
Yes. The LGA1700 socket supports processor upgrades up to the Core Ultra 9 285KF. The Z790 D AX has four M.2 slots for additional or faster storage, and four DDR5 RAM slots supporting up to 128GB. The 1000W Corsair Gold PSU provides headroom for GPU upgrades. The Z890 platform (available if you select the Core Ultra 9 option above) adds PCIe 5.0 and USB4 for longer-term future proofing. Call Kevin when you’re ready to upgrade and he’ll advise on the right path for your specific machine.
Standard build time is 4–5 working days from order to despatch, plus delivery. Fast Track (available above) reduces this to 2–3 working days. Delivery is free to mainland UK addresses, fully insured and tracked. Your PC ships with internal bracing to prevent GPU sag and component movement during transit. If you have a specific date in mind, call Kevin on 01902 714533 and he will let you know whether it can be accommodated.
