Intel Core i7 12700F 16GB Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti Gaming PC - G6 Storm X5
Description
G6 Storm X5: i7 12700F + RTX 5060 Ti 16GB for 1440p With VRAM Headroom
The G6 Storm X5 is the gaming pc i7-12700f rtx 5060 ti build for the 1440p buyer who wants the 16GB VRAM headroom rather than the 8GB version. Intel’s 12-core Core i7 12700F (8 Performance cores + 4 Efficiency cores, 4.90 GHz Turbo, 25MB Smart Cache) pairs with the Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti 16GB at 1440p for the modern AAA rotation with hardware ray-tracing engaged, the heavily-modded library with high-resolution textures, and DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation in compatible titles. Hand-built in Wolverhampton against the same workshop process Ginger6 has run since 2001, the G6 Storm X5 ships fully tested with a 3-year warranty and lifetime UK phone support.
The 16GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti is the right answer at 1440p when your library leans texture-heavy: heavily-modded open worlds, full-detail draw distance, content-creation alongside gaming, or any modern AAA title released in the last 18 months that pushes the 8GB VRAM ceiling. Step down to the G6 Storm X3 with the 8GB version of the same RTX 5060 Ti if your library is comfortable inside 8GB at 1440p (most competitive titles, older AAA, esports rotation). Step up to the G6 Storm X6 with the RTX 5070 12GB when 1440p high-refresh without DLSS 4 in the most demanding modern AAA is the target. Not certain which Storm fits? Call Kevin on 01902 714533. He builds the machine, answers the phone, and gives a straight answer based on your setup, not a sales tier.
Inside the Vida Edge mid-tower with ARGB case fans, the 12700F runs under the Intel stock cooler sized for the 65W base power and the sustained gaming load this build is sold for. The Gigabyte H610M K V2 carries the LGA1700 socket with the H610M chipset, two DDR5 DIMM slots populated with 16GB DDR5 5200MHz (2x8GB) Dual Channel memory in dual-channel mode, an M.2 NVMe slot for the included 1TB Gen 4 SSD, 1GbE Realtek LAN, and Wi-Fi connectivity supplied by an included 300Mbps USB Wi-Fi adapter. Power comes from the 750w G6 80+ Bronze PSU, stepped up from the 650w on the X3 to give the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB headroom for sustained 1440p workloads. The G6 Storm X5 sits inside our £1500 gaming PC tier and the wider Intel gaming PC range, specifically the Intel Core i7 gaming PC range. Browse the full Ginger6 gaming PC catalogue, the RTX 5060 Ti gaming PC range, or the 1440p gaming PC range for context.
The G6 Storm X5 is suited to competitive shooters like Fortnite, CS2, and Black Ops 7, to survival games like Subnautica 2, and to action and adventure games like Borderlands 4, plus the wider Ginger6 catalogue for any title not named here.
What’s Inside the G6 Storm X5
Every component selected for 1440p ray-traced gaming on the i7 12700F platform, with the 16GB VRAM headroom for texture-heavy libraries. Dual-channel DDR5, NVMe Gen 4 storage, ARGB case fans on the Vida Edge, and the 750w PSU sized with the headroom the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB actually needs under sustained 1440p load.
The i7 + RTX 5060 Ti 16GB 1440p Build
Three reasons the G6 Storm X5 is the build that lands on this spec.
16GB VRAM Is the 1440p Headroom Buy
The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is the same Blackwell silicon as the 8GB version with doubled GDDR7. At 1440p that VRAM headroom is the difference between a heavily-modded library running comfortably and a build that pushes the 8GB ceiling. Modern AAA released in the last 18 months increasingly settles into the 9-12GB VRAM range at 1440p Ultra with ray tracing engaged; the 16GB version stays inside its envelope where the 8GB version is at the wall.
i7 12700F Leaves the GPU as the Ceiling at 1440p
The 12700F is comfortably ahead of the RTX 5060 Ti at 1440p. The CPU never throttles the GPU, frame pacing stays clean, and 1% lows in competitive shooters stay well above the average refresh rate of any high-Hz 1440p panel. The same i7 12700F that ships on the Storm X1 (RTX 5060) all the way up to the Storm X6 (RTX 5070) sits across the whole Storm range; the GPU is the variable, the CPU is the constant.
750w PSU Stepped Up for Sustained 1440p Load
The 750w G6 80+ Bronze PSU is stepped up from the 650w on the Storm X3 with the 8GB version, sized for sustained 1440p workloads on the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB plus the i7 12700F. The 12V rail headroom matters when you start adding sustained-load creator workloads alongside gaming, and leaves room for a one-tier GPU upgrade in future without revisiting the power stack.
What the G6 Storm X5 Plays
Four workloads the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB on the i7 12700F is sized for at 1440p.
Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth Wukong, Alan Wake 2, Hogwarts Legacy run at 1440p with hardware ray-traced lighting engaged and DLSS 4 quality. The 16GB VRAM stays inside its envelope where the 8GB version would push the ceiling on heavily-textured open worlds. DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation lifts headroom further in compatible titles.
Heavily-modded Skyrim, modded GTA V (NaturalVision Evolved + texture mods), Cities: Skylines 2 with high-detail assets, and the heavily-modded community-server scene at 1440p. The 16GB VRAM is what carries this workload where the 8GB version of the same card runs out of headroom on swapping textures.
Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Apex Legends, Fortnite, Overwatch 2 at 1440p with high-refresh panels (165 Hz, 240 Hz). 1% lows stay clean because the 12700F carries the network thread, the voice stack, and the recording engine on the E-cores while the P-cores own the game thread.
OBS NVENC encoding on the RTX 5060 Ti at 1440p output, browser, chat, voice, recording, and the game thread can all run at the same time without the 12700F blinking. The 16GB VRAM also helps DaVinci Resolve and Premiere with 1440p timelines outside gaming hours, where the 8GB version becomes the ceiling on heavier sequences.

Where the Storm X5 Sits at 1440p
The Storm X5 is the answer to a specific buying question at 1440p: gaming pc i7-12700f rtx 5060 ti, but the 16GB version. The Storm X3 below carries the same i7 12700F with the 8GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti for the 1080p Ultra ray-traced gamer or entry 1440p with DLSS 4 quality. The Storm X5, this build, carries the 16GB version of the same RTX 5060 Ti at 1440p for the buyer whose library is texture-heavy. Two siblings on the same CPU, two GPU answers to two different VRAM ceilings at the same resolution.
The 16GB version of the 5060 Ti is the same Blackwell silicon as the 8GB. Shader throughput is identical between the two cards. The difference is the GDDR7 memory pool. At 1440p in modern AAA with ray tracing engaged, the 8GB ceiling is increasingly visible on open-world titles with high-resolution texture packs, modded libraries, and the most recent releases. The 16GB version stays inside its envelope where the 8GB version starts swapping textures and frame pacing wavers. At 1080p the difference is invisible (most 1080p workloads sit well inside 8GB); at 1440p the difference is the build choice; at 4K the GPU runs out of shader throughput before the VRAM matters.
Every Storm X5 is hand-built in Wolverhampton. The 12700F is seated on the H610M K V2 with the Intel stock cooler and ARGB case fans on the Vida Edge; cable management routes the GPU cable behind the cable shroud away from the front intake to support better airflow inside the case and reduce dust build-up around components; BIOS settings, DDR5 5200MHz dual-channel mode, NVMe boot order, and on-board firmware updates are confirmed before the 24-hour stress test begins. The 750w PSU is sized for sustained 1440p load with one-tier GPU upgrade headroom. After delivery, Kevin is reachable directly: the 3-year warranty covers parts and labour, and lifetime UK phone support means the person who built the machine is the person who answers the phone if anything needs attention. If you prefer the 1440p high-refresh build with more shader throughput rather than more VRAM, the Storm X6 with the RTX 5070 12GB is the natural step across.
Tell Kevin:
- The games you play most often
- Your monitor resolution and refresh rate
- Whether you stream, record, or edit alongside gaming
- Your approximate budget
No charge for the conversation. No pressure to buy.
Who the G6 Storm X5 Is For
Four buyer profiles where the G6 Storm X5 is the right answer.
You play modern AAA at 1440p (Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth Wukong, Alan Wake 2, Hogwarts Legacy) and your library leans towards heavily-modded games (Skyrim, GTA V, Fallout 4 with NaturalVision or 4K texture mods) or recent releases that push past 8GB VRAM at 1440p. The 16GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti is the right answer: same shader throughput as the 8GB version, double the GDDR7 pool.
You play CS2, Valorant, Apex, Fortnite, Overwatch 2 on a 1440p high-refresh panel (165 Hz, 240 Hz). The RTX 5060 Ti holds frame rates well above 240 fps in the competitive rotation at 1440p; the 12700F carries 1% lows tight under the network, voice, and capture stack. The 16GB pool also leaves room for a 1440p modded loadout (community servers, custom maps, texture mods) without pressure.
You stream or record at 1440p (NVENC encoding on the RTX 5060 Ti), and you edit at 1080p or 1440p in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere outside gaming hours. The 16GB VRAM is the right size for both workloads: gaming with capture in the background, and editing timelines that would push the 8GB version. The 12700F’s 12 cores carry the encoder, the browser, the chat, and the patch downloads on the E-cores while the P-cores own the game or the editor.
The X5 carries the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB; the X6 above carries the RTX 5070 12GB. The X5 has more VRAM (16GB vs 12GB) but less shader throughput; the X6 has less VRAM but more raw GPU horsepower. At 1440p with heavily-textured libraries the X5 wins on VRAM headroom. At 1440p in modern AAA at native (no DLSS) the X6 wins on shader throughput. Both are excellent 1440p builds; the choice is workload, not winner.
What Our Customers Say
Over 1,100 reviews on Trustpilot with a 93% five-star rating. The person who advises on your spec is the person who builds your G6 Storm X5 and answers the phone after delivery. Read the reviews on Trustpilot directly, nothing here is curated.
Fantastic experience all round. Kevin walked me through the spec on the phone, answered every question, and the PC arrived faster than expected. Tracked delivery, beautifully packaged, runs cool and quiet at 1440p. Easy recommendation for anyone looking at a custom build.
The PC performs brilliantly at 1440p and the build quality is genuinely excellent. Tidy cabling, all components seated properly, runs silently under load. The stress test paperwork in the box was a nice touch. Would not hesitate to use Ginger6 again.
Excellent service from start to finish. The 1440p performance is outstanding, frame rates well above what I expected for the price point. Kevin was reachable directly when I had a question about the warranty after delivery. That level of after-sales care is what separates Ginger6 from the bigger builders.
Built by Hand in Wolverhampton
Every G6 Storm X5 goes through the same three-stage workshop process. The 24-hour stress test is the gate that holds dispatch.
Before assembly begins, the configuration is reviewed against the 1440p games you play, the panel you own (165 Hz, 240 Hz, or higher), and any creative work or streaming you run alongside. If you have spoken to Kevin, the build sheet reflects that conversation. Components are verified against current stock, the Intel stock cooler mounting hardware is confirmed for the LGA1700 socket on the Vida Edge, and the build is queued in the workshop schedule.
The G6 Storm X5 is assembled inside the Vida Edge. The Intel stock cooler is seated on the 12700F with cold-plate contact verified, and the ARGB case fans on the front and rear are configured for direct intake. The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is seated with the anti-sag bracket. Cable management routes the high-current GPU cable behind the cable shroud, away from the front intake, supporting better airflow inside the case, reducing dust build-up around components, and making future maintenance simpler. BIOS settings, DDR5 5200MHz dual-channel mode, NVMe boot order, the on-board firmware update, and the included 300Mbps USB Wi-Fi adapter driver are all confirmed before the 24-hour test begins. This is a pre-dispatch step, not part of the 24-hour test itself.
Every G6 Storm X5 runs sustained CPU plus GPU load for a full day before it ships, with the GPU memory pressed against the 16GB ceiling to confirm thermal and frame-pacing behaviour at the texture-heavy workload this build is sold for. The 12700F is monitored for thermal headroom across all 12 cores; the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is held at sustained boost. Boost behaviour, fan curves, stock-cooler thermal performance, 750w PSU rail stability, and storage performance are all logged before despatch. Your G6 Storm X5 ships free to mainland UK addresses, fully insured and tracked.
- Thermal behaviour under sustained load
- Processor and graphics stability during extended use
- Memory responsiveness and system stability
- Storage performance and consistency
- BIOS and firmware stability
- Frame pacing in modern AAA at 1440p with ray tracing

Questions About the G6 Storm X5
The 16GB version is the same Blackwell silicon as the 8GB with doubled GDDR7 memory. Shader throughput is identical between the two cards. At 1440p the 8GB ceiling is increasingly visible on modern AAA released in the last 18 months, on heavily-modded libraries, and on open-world titles with high-resolution texture packs. The 16GB version stays inside its envelope where the 8GB version starts swapping textures. For 1440p texture-heavy buyers the 16GB is the right answer; for 1080p Ultra ray-traced buyers the 8GB version on the Storm X3 is the right answer.
Yes. Modern AAA at 1440p with DLSS 4 quality holds well above 60 fps; competitive titles at 1440p run into the high hundreds. At native 1440p without DLSS 4 in the most demanding modern AAA, the RTX 5060 Ti runs into the GPU shader-throughput ceiling rather than the VRAM ceiling; for that workload the Storm X6 with the RTX 5070 12GB is the natural step up. The 12700F is comfortably ahead of the RTX 5060 Ti at 1440p, so the CPU is not the ceiling.
Both carry the i7 12700F, the Gigabyte H610M K V2 board, the Intel stock cooler, the 16GB DDR5 5200MHz (2x8GB) Dual Channel kit, the 1TB Gen 4 NVMe drive, and the 750w G6 80+ Bronze PSU. The split is the GPU and the case: the X5 carries the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB in the Vida Edge; the X6 above carries the RTX 5070 12GB in the GameMax F15M. The X5 is the buy for the 1440p gamer who wants the 16GB VRAM headroom for texture-heavy libraries. The X6 step-up is the buy for the 1440p gamer who wants the RTX 5070’s shader-throughput uplift in modern AAA without ray-tracing reliance on DLSS 4.
The 12700F is the i7 most 1440p gaming buyers should be looking at. Three years on from launch, it is still a 12-core part with 20 threads, 4.90 GHz P-core Turbo, 25MB Smart Cache, and the P-core/E-core hybrid layout the 14th-gen i7 still uses. In modern gaming workloads the gap between the 12700F and the 14th-gen 14700K is smaller than the price gap suggests, and the F variant (no integrated graphics, locked multiplier) lands the build at a price the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB can justify. For buyers who specifically want the 14th-gen 14700KF on a Z790 platform, the Galactic range is the natural step across.
For modern AAA at 1440p, yes. 16GB DDR5 5200MHz arrives as a 2x8GB dual-channel kit (the canonical Ginger6 form, never a single stick) so the memory controller runs at full bandwidth from boot. The H610M K V2 board has two DDR5 DIMM slots supporting up to 64GB total; if your workload scales into 1440p content creation, video editing, or heavy multitasking alongside gaming, a like-for-like step up to 32GB (2x16GB) dual-channel is the obvious first move. The dual-channel kit pattern is preserved on every upgrade path Ginger6 quotes. Note: 16GB SYSTEM memory is distinct from the 16GB VRAM on the RTX 5060 Ti; the two pools are independent.
Two upgrade paths. Add a USB Wi-Fi adapter that includes Bluetooth at checkout, or step the motherboard up in the configurator to a B760M-class board with onboard Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. Either path keeps the rest of the build identical.
Yes. The LGA1700 socket supports current-generation Intel chips; the Gigabyte H610M K V2 has two DDR5 DIMM slots supporting up to 64GB, the M.2 slot for the boot drive, a SATA upgrade path for secondary storage, and the 750w G6 80+ Bronze PSU has the headroom for a one-tier GPU upgrade in future. A 2TB Gen 4 NVMe drive is the obvious first upgrade as your library grows. Call Kevin when you are ready to upgrade, and he will quote the parts and the labour for a workshop installation if you would prefer not to swap them yourself.

amazing machine at an amazing price Review by Raz
Quality Price Value Customer Service This is a blinding PC, particularly for this money. My previous rig was starting to show its age, struggling to get above medium settings on newer games, and even some older ones now including COD and Far Cry. ThisI has no such problems, breezing through every game I have, including Cyberpower, at the highest settings possible, I added a couple of upgrades to the base unit - namely a larger and faster ssd drive, and the faster WLAN card, as my router is downstairs. Both are well worth the extra money spent - this is an amazing machine at an amazing price. It was ordered last tuesday, dispatched the friday, arrived saturday morning with a secondary package containing all the relevant manuals and driver discs. Telephone support was very good. All in all I'm one happy customer, who has already recommended two people who were considering a major brand alternative, at close to 40% higher price for less computer power (Posted on 07/03/2023)

Amazing PC and extremely quick build/delivery. Review by Howard Farrar
Value Quality Price Customer Service The speed and efficiency that Ginger6 were able to put this together was amazing. From placing the order on the website to having the PC delivered on my doorstep in under a week!
I am extremely happy with the PC, the build quality is excellent, it performs as I require it to. Additionally the advice from Kevin at Ginger6 that I received during a brief phone call prior to placing my order was extremely valuable. This was honest advice, he didn't try to upsell me, in fact he effectively downsold me a little, be explaining that some elements were not infact worthwhile. Saved me a few quid and was great advice.
I would thoroughly recommend using Ginger6 and have already shared their website (and a photo of my PC in full ARGB glory) with a colleague who is also looking at a custom build gaming PC.
Thanks again folks! (Posted on 16/12/2020) -

Excited Review by Hannah
Quality Price Value Customer Service
I ordered a custom PC from Ginger6 last week. I had been looking at a custom build computer for a while, and chose Ginger6 over the many, many competitors for a couple of reasons. Firstly, their pricing was the most competitive for the exact setup I wanted, and secondly their website (and more importantly computer customisation pages) were incredibly easy to navigate. I thought the best part of the customisation page was the fact that only compatible components could be selected, whereas other websites would allow you to fully spec a PC, only to be told at the end, "Actually, these parts don't go!".
I placed my order on Thursday and began what I was expecting to be up to a two week wait for the PC (as per the delivery times on their website) however, to my utter amazement, the computer was delivered this Tuesday, just three working days after I ordered it. I was, of course, over the moon and couldn't wait to unpack it and use it. Ginger6 had done all the setup the computer had needed to allow me to come straight in and install my operating system, so I was up and running within minutes.
My computer came with an ASUS RTX 2070.
In all, I am extremely happy with the service provided by Ginger6. The PC itself is exactly as I wanted it. It runs like an absolute dream and I am incredibly happy with my purchase. You have made this 20-something year old feel excited like a kid again, so thank you! (Posted on 06/12/2018) -

10/10 Review by Mark Lawton
Price Value Quality Customer Service This was my first purchase from ginger6 but not my last, the service and customer support has been excellent along with 3 years warranty for peace of mind I cant find anything to fault. The system I purchased was a custom build, built to a very high standard with excellent cable management, although the system I purchased was quite a high spec for gaming its also unbelievably quiet and without doubt the best pc I have ever purchased and its fast, boots up in 20 seconds on windows 10. All in all ginger6 offer a great service and provide a quality product 10/10.

Customer Service Value Quality Price Just to let you know that I recieved the computer on the 3rd as promised and everything appears to be in good working order. I would like to thankyou for your swift and pleasant service. I have now bought three computers from you over the past three years and they all still work fine and I would recommend you to anyone. Many thanks, Mark (Posted on 28/12/2016)
