CUSTOM PC BUILDER — WOLVERHAMPTON

Custom PC Builder UK - Talk to the Person Who Builds Your Machine

Ginger6 is a Custom PC Builder based in Wolverhampton where the person who answers your call is the same person who builds your machine. Whether you're configuring a gaming desktop, a video editing workstation, or a reliable home office computer, every custom built PC leaves our workshop hand-assembled, stress-tested for 24 hours, and backed by a 3-year warranty. That approach is why more than 90% of our Trustpilot reviews are five stars. We don't have a sales team or a separate support department. You get one expert from first conversation to final build.

TRUST & REPUTATION

Why Customers Rate Ginger6 Higher Than PCSpecialist and Chillblast

More than 90% of Ginger6 customers leave five-star reviews on Trustpilot, compared to more than 75% for PCSpecialist. That gap doesn't come from marketing. It comes from how the two companies are built. PCSpecialist processes thousands of orders through separate sales, build, and support teams. When something goes wrong, the person you call has never seen your PC. Ginger6 puts one person in front of you for the entire journey, from first phone call to final build and beyond.

When you call Ginger6, you speak to the person who will build your PC. Not a salesperson. Not a call-centre operator reading from a script. The person who picks up the phone is the person who'll choose your components, assemble your machine on the bench, run the stress test, and answer your call if you have a question six months later. Kevin and the team handle every build personally. That's not a tagline. It's how the workshop actually runs.

We'll recommend spending less if you don't need it. If a cheaper graphics card handles your games perfectly at your monitor's resolution, we'll say so. If you've specced an i9 but your workload only needs an i5, we'll flag it before you pay for something you won't use. Check our Trustpilot reviews for phrases like "talked me out of" and "recommended cheaper." Those come up more often than you'd expect from a company that sells PCs for a living.

We stock and test the latest components before recommending them. When a new generation of NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards or AMD Ryzen processors launches, we run real-world benchmarks on our bench before updating recommendations. We don't recommend parts based on manufacturer marketing. We recommend what we've tested and trust.

Ginger6 has been building custom PCs from the same Wolverhampton workshop since 2001. Same phone number. Same approach. Same focus on getting the right PC into the right hands. Customers who bought PCs from us twenty years ago still call when they need a new build. That kind of repeat business doesn't happen by accident. It happens when the person who built your last machine remembers your setup and knows what you actually need next.

How Ginger6 Builds, Tests, and Ships Your Custom PC

Every Ginger6 custom PC is built to order in our Wolverhampton workshop, stress-tested for 24 hours under sustained load, and shipped via tracked courier within 5 to 7 working days. Ready-built desktop PCs from our pre-configured range ship within 1 to 2 working days.

01
You Tell Us What You Need

Call Kevin on 01902 714533, email [email protected], or use the online PC configurator. We'll ask what you want the computer to do, what games or software you use, what resolution your monitor runs, and what your budget looks like. No jargon. No upselling. Just the information we need to recommend something that makes sense.

02
We Recommend the Right Parts

Based on what you tell us, we'll suggest a specification that fits your use case and budget. If we think you're overspending for what you need, we'll say so. If upgrading the graphics card or adding more RAM would make a noticeable difference, we'll explain why it's worth considering.

03
Your Custom PC Is Built by Hand

Your desktop computer is assembled on our bench in Wolverhampton. Every component is installed with proper thermal paste application, secure mounting, and clean cable management. We use quality power supplies with headroom for future upgrades, and we route cables so you can access any component without pulling the whole build apart.

04
24 Hours of Stress Testing

Every system runs for a full day under sustained CPU and GPU load before it ships. This isn't a quick boot-up check. It catches instability, thermal throttling, and marginal components that would pass a shorter test but fail during extended use. If a part is going to fail in its first month, it almost always fails here instead. We replace it, retest, and you never know it happened.

05
Packed and Shipped

Once testing passes, we run final checks on Windows, drivers, and BIOS configuration. Your PC is packed with internal bracing to prevent GPU sag during transit. You'll get a dispatch notification with tracking details. Free delivery across the UK mainland.

06
Ongoing Support from the Person Who Built It

Your relationship with Ginger6 doesn't end at delivery. Every custom built PC includes a 3-year warranty covering parts and postage for the first year and labour for three years, with the option to upgrade to 2- or 3-year full coverage. Lifetime technical support is included at no extra cost for as long as you own the machine. The same phone number reaches the person who built your PC.

COMPONENTS

What Components Go Into a Custom Built PC?

Every custom PC is made up of six core components: processor (CPU), graphics card (GPU), memory (RAM), storage (SSD), power supply (PSU), and case with cooling. The right combination depends entirely on what you'll use the computer for. Here's what each component does and why it matters.

Processor (CPU)

The CPU handles every calculation your PC makes. For gaming, AMD Ryzen X3D processors (like the 7800X3D and 9800X3D) are currently the strongest choice thanks to their extra 3D V-Cache. For video editing, streaming, and mixed workloads, Intel Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 9 processors tend to perform better because of their stronger multi-threaded performance. We'll recommend whichever platform fits what you actually do.

Graphics Card (GPU)

NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards are the standard for gaming and creative work in 2026. The GPU determines how your games look and how fast they run. The RTX 5060 handles 1080p well. The RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5070 cover 1440p. The RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080 are built for 4K, VR, and professional rendering. NVIDIA's ray tracing and DLSS technology add realistic lighting and AI-boosted frame rates in supported titles.

Memory (RAM)

RAM is your PC's short-term working memory. 16GB of DDR5 handles gaming comfortably in 2026. 32GB is better if you stream while gaming, edit video, or run multiple demanding applications at once. 64GB is for professional workloads with very large datasets or timelines.

Storage (SSD)

Every Ginger6 custom PC ships with an NVMe SSD as standard. Traditional hard drives (HDDs) are too slow for modern workloads. An M.2 NVMe SSD is significantly faster than older SATA SSDs, and the larger the drive, the faster it tends to perform. We recommend at least 1TB for gaming (modern titles regularly exceed 100GB each) and 2TB or more for video editing and flight simulation where project files and scenery data eat storage quickly. You can always add a second drive for bulk storage.

Power Supply (PSU)

The PSU delivers power to every component. We size power supplies with headroom above what the current build requires so you're covered if you upgrade the graphics card or add components later. A quality PSU from a reputable manufacturer is one of the most important parts of a reliable build, and one of the first things budget builders cut corners on.

Cooling and Case

Quality air cooling from brands like Corsair and Arctic handles the majority of gaming builds quietly and effectively. Water cooling (AIO liquid coolers) is worth considering for high-end processors, overclocking, or builds where you want the lowest possible noise. The case is chosen for airflow, build quality, and compatibility with your components. Not every build needs RGB lighting.

Not sure which components to choose? That's exactly what we're here for. Call Kevin on 01902 714533 or email [email protected] and describe what you want the PC to do. He'll recommend the right parts for your use case and budget.

GAMING BUILDS

Gaming PCs Built Around What You Actually Play

The right gaming PC depends on what you play and what settings matter to you, not on which processor has the highest number on the box. A competitive Valorant player at 240fps needs completely different hardware to someone running Microsoft Flight Simulator at 4K with photorealistic scenery. We match the build to the games, the resolution, and the budget.

1080p Gaming
Under £1,200

A 1080p gaming PC handles competitive titles like Valorant, CS2, Fortnite, and League of Legends at high frame rates for under £1,200. At this resolution, you don't need the most expensive GPU on the market. An NVIDIA RTX 5060 paired with an AMD Ryzen 5 or Intel Core i5, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD delivers smooth performance at high settings. Most players at 1080p are chasing frame rates over visual fidelity, and this tier delivers exactly that.

Expect 150 to 300+ fps in competitive shooters and 60 to 100fps in more demanding single-player titles. If you're gaming on a 1080p 144Hz monitor, this is the sweet spot.

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5060
  • CPU: Ryzen 5 / Core i5
  • RAM: 16GB DDR5
  • Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD
  • FPS: 150-300+ competitive
Configure 1080p Build →
4K & VR Gaming
£1,800+

4K gaming and VR push hardware the hardest, and custom built desktop computers at this level start at £1,800 and can reach £3,500+ for flagship specs. You'll want an RTX 5070 Ti or RTX 5080, a high-end CPU (Ryzen 9 or Intel i7/i9), 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and fast NVMe storage. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Star Citizen, and Cyberpunk 2077 at ultra settings with NVIDIA ray tracing are the kind of workloads that justify this spend.

VR adds its own demands. Consistent frame rates matter more than peak frame rates, and dropped frames cause motion sickness. We build VR rigs with stability as the priority, using components we've tested specifically for VR headset compatibility.

  • GPU: RTX 5070 Ti / RTX 5080
  • CPU: Ryzen 9 / Intel i7/i9
  • RAM: 32GB DDR5
  • Storage: 2TB+ NVMe SSD
  • FPS: 60+ at ultra / 4K

Custom PCs for Video Editing, Creative Work, and Home Office

Ginger6 is best known for gaming PCs, but we build the same way for video editors, content creators, home offices, and flight sim enthusiasts. The process is identical: you tell us what software you run, we recommend parts that match, and we build and stress-test the desktop computer before it ships.

£1,500 – £2,500

Video Editing & Content Creation

Video editing workloads care more about CPU cores, RAM capacity, and storage speed than GPU horsepower. If you're running Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or After Effects with 4K timelines, you'll want an Intel Core Ultra 7 or Core Ultra 9, 32GB of DDR5 RAM minimum (64GB for heavy projects), and a fast NVMe SSD large enough to hold your active projects. A second NVMe drive for your OS and applications keeps everything running without bottlenecks. Expect to spend between £1,500 and £2,500 depending on timeline complexity and whether you're rendering in the background while editing.

Intel tends to outperform AMD for mixed creative workloads where you're editing, rendering, and running multiple applications at once. We'll recommend whichever platform fits your workflow.

From £699

Home & Office PCs

A reliable home or office PC from Ginger6 starts at £699 and handles everyday computing, email, web browsing, and office applications without any issues. These custom desktop computers prioritise reliability and quiet operation over raw performance. They're not worth noting, but they're built to the same standard as our gaming machines, with an NVMe SSD for fast boot times, 24-hour stress testing, and a 3-year warranty.

£1.000 – £3,000+

Quadro Workstations

Ginger6 builds NVIDIA Quadro and RTX professional workstations for CAD, 3D rendering, scientific computing, and enterprise applications, with builds running between £1,000 and £3,000. Quadro and RTX Pro GPUs are designed differently to gaming cards. They're built for precision, stability, and certified driver support across professional software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, CATIA, and Siemens NX. A gaming GPU can technically run these applications, but professional workloads benefit from ECC memory support, ISV-certified drivers, and the reliability that comes with hardware designed for sustained 24/7 operation. If your work depends on your PC not crashing mid-render, a Quadro workstation is the right investment.

Tell Kevin what software you use and he'll recommend the right spec. Call 01902 714533 or email [email protected].

Future-Proof Design

Are Ginger6 Custom PCs Upgradeable?

Yes, every Ginger6 custom built PC is designed with future upgrades in mind. We use standard ATX or Micro-ATX components, cases with spare drive bays and expansion slots, and power supplies sized with headroom above the current build’s requirements.

When you’re ready to upgrade your graphics card, add more RAM, or swap in a larger NVMe SSD, the parts are accessible and the power supply can handle the increased load.

That said, things change fast in the PC world. By the time you’re ready to upgrade, a newer CPU might require a different motherboard and memory generation. If you think you’ll want to upgrade in a year or two, tell Kevin when you’re ordering. He can make choices now that make the upgrade process easier and cheaper when the time comes.

When you’re ready to upgrade, call us. Kevin will tell you honestly whether the upgrade is worth the cost or whether you’d be better served by a new build.

Honest Comparison

Should You Build Your Own PC or Buy from a Builder?

Building your own PC can save 10 to 15% on component costs if you have the experience, tools, and time to do it properly. That’s a real saving, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

Here’s what you trade for that saving:

  • Time. A first-time builder should budget 4 to 6 hours for assembly, plus troubleshooting if something doesn’t post correctly.
  • Warranty. Nobody covers the assembled system. A Ginger6 build carries a 3-year warranty covering the complete system.
  • Testing. We stress-test every build for 24 hours. DIY builders rarely run extended stress tests.
  • Support. If something goes wrong with a Ginger6 PC, you call the person who built it.

Still thinking about building yourself? Call Kevin and he’ll talk you through the pros and cons honestly. No pressure either way.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Most gamers get the performance they want between £1,000 and £1,800. Under £1,000 handles 1080p gaming well. The £1,200 to £1,800 range covers 1440p at high settings, which is where most Ginger6 customers land. Over £1,800 is for 4K gaming, VR, or professional workloads.

Yes, building your own PC can save 10 to 15% on component costs. You give up the 24-hour stress test, 3-year system warranty, and lifetime technical support that come with a Ginger6 build.

Yes, Ginger6 offers 0% finance through PayPal Pay in 3 on orders over £500. Finance is subject to status and approval. Select your payment option at checkout or call Kevin to discuss.

A custom PC is built to your specification with components you choose, while a pre-built uses a fixed configuration. Custom builds let you match hardware to your exact use case and budget. Pre-built systems ship within 1 to 2 working days but offer less flexibility. We sell both.

The best custom PC is the one that matches what you’ll actually use it for, at a price that makes sense. A £1,200 gaming PC is “the best” for someone playing Valorant at 1440p. A £3,000 workstation is “the best” for a professional video editor. Call Kevin on 01902 714533.

AMD Ryzen X3D processors are currently the strongest choice for pure gaming because of extra 3D V-Cache. Intel is generally better if you also use your PC for video editing, streaming, and productivity alongside gaming. We recommend based on your actual workload.

An NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti or RTX 5070 handles 1440p gaming well. The 5060 Ti delivers 60 to 100fps at high settings. The 5070 adds headroom for higher frame rates and more demanding games with ray tracing enabled.

16GB of DDR5 RAM is enough for gaming in 2026. 32GB makes sense if you stream while gaming, run multiple monitors with background applications, or want to future-proof for 3 to 4 years.

Yes, every modern custom PC should have an NVMe SSD as its primary drive. An M.2 NVMe SSD loads Windows in seconds and cuts game loading times dramatically. We recommend at least 1TB for gaming and 2TB+ for video editing or flight simulation.

No, most gaming PCs run perfectly well with quality air cooling. Water cooling is worth considering for high-end processors, overclocking, or builds where you want the lowest possible noise level.

At minimum, a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. For gaming, a high-refresh-rate monitor (144Hz or 165Hz) makes the biggest difference. Gaming keyboards and mice add comfort but aren’t essential to get started.

Custom-built PCs take 5 to 7 working days from order to delivery, including assembly, 24-hour stress testing, and tracked shipping. Ready-built PCs ship within 1 to 2 working days.
